Could my BR be a roo?

Looks like a pullet by the color, my BR pullet had a large comb early on as well.

Looks like a pullet to me, though the light is bad. BR pullets have actual combs you can see at that age. You ID BR sexes by the overall color and head spot (which disappears by that age).

Well did you buy Barred Rocks or black sexlinks????


ALL Barred Rocks have the head spot........ but only males of the black sexlink hybrid. SOOOOOO

Relax it is dark so it will be a hen only the lighter silvery looking BR are roos.

I know this for a fact because 2 of my 5 are roos

BOTH BR sexes have a head spot, just different character/shape/definition in male and female (usually).

Yeah...barred rocks both have the spot on the head.

If yours is a black sex-link then only the males have the spot on the head. If I understand you correctly, you got sold a male but they told you it was female.
