Could my rooster carry the "blue egg" gene?

His father was apparently a purebred Ameraucana and I'm not sure what the hen was, likely just a backyard mix. He hatched from a brown egg and is clean faced. He had a couple of brothers and a sister that are fully bearded. All hatch-mates are single comb. Is it possible that he may carry the blue egg gene and pass it on to his daughters? Probably just wishful thinking, lol, but thought I should ask the people who will know!

If the father did have a blue egg gene, it is possible that he may also have a single blue egg gene. Since he came out of a brown egg his mother did not have a blue egg gene. Depending on whether his father had one or two blue egg genes, there is either a 25% or 50% chance that he has one blue egg gene.

If he has one blue egg gene it could be passed on to 50% of the chicks that he fathers.

If his dad was purebred (OO), then your rooster has Oo (one blue egg, one white egg gene). And he'll pass an O (blue egg gene) on to half of his offspring. Since it's dominant, all the hens that get the gene from him will lay some version of blue, green, or olive eggs.

They're likely to be more green or olive than blue because of the brown that's also in the mix.

In this case the only thing earlobe color is going to tell you is what color his earlobe are.
I'd be sceptical whether his father was a true ameraucana or an Easter egger.
No beard/muffs and straight comb doesn't sound like an ameraucana father.
I'd guess his father was and EE which means there's just as much chance he doesn't carry it then he does.
Going to have to test breed and wait for pullet offspring to lay to know for sure.

Ear lobe color is not indicative of blue egg genetics.

So you're saying he will at best throw 25% that lay blue eggs and 25% that carry the blue egg gene but don't lay blue eggs?
What will the other 50% lay or carry?
Can't really say what offspring will lay without the knowledge of what the hen he is bred to carries.
No sure why you say some will lay blue and some will carry blue. If they carry it then it will show in their eggs whether they're a shade of blue or shade of green.
A hen can't carry the blue egg without it being expressed in her eggs. Blue egg gene is dominate.
As for what he passes on...
If he doesn't have it he passes it to 0 offspring.
If he has one gene for it he will pass it to 50%. If he has two genes for it he would pass it to 100% offspring.
In this case he can't have two copies because his mother didn't have any genes for it.
Not sure how you got to a 25% chance?

What is OIOW??
I've got several white lobes hens that lay brown eggs and a few that lay blue eggs.
They say earlobe color has nothing to do with egg shell color.
