It is 4 weeks old in 2 days. It did have a mohawk before the feathers started coming in. The color is a light lavender, 5 toes, bunny tail feathers and it's not really fat its fluffy and those are feathers not chick fuzz.

Any ideas? I was told it was a Chchin Splash Bantam. I think it should be called a Lavender Splash Cochin Bantam. What do you think? Agree or disagree

It has just a hint of a comb and it is a light color. I thought it might be a girl. It is just so cute. Too small to cuddle but just adorable. I got it as an egg in some I won on a contest. On the egg it said splash cochin bantam

That's what I meant...LOL. They can still come out smooth-feathered like that though.

If you could feel it the feathers aren't actually fluffy and poofy but not curled. It also has a couple of darker feathers coming out around its body close to its neck and at the top of its head where it's mohawk was.

explain to me the different characteristics to the different breeds that you see here. such as 5 toes black feet fluffy feathers and color.

Its pretty small too. You can see it comes up to the breast of the chick behind it. They are the same age, Hatched same day but different breeds of course.

Here's the other one

It could be a smooth out of an attempted sizzle mating.

It looks like a splash. Just a bit light right now. More "spalshes" should come in with time and as it molts SEVERAL more times till it has it's adult feathers.

The second chick could be several different breeds or even a mix. There are a few breeds that get the black shanks when breeding blues and even lavenders. Then there are breeds that Call for dark shanks(legs).

I was told by the person that sent me the egg it was a lavender orphington. Did you notice the ends of its toes? They're pink. You may be able to see it better in the first picture when it was behind the little chick.

I have a silkie who had one toe that had a tip of pinkish white and everything else black (like yours) and was told that happens in mixed silkies or in hatchery silkies (not good quality) but eventually it will turn all black...

THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE WHITE/PINK TIP OF MY SILKIE...so don't quote me as the truth...
