Could there ever be mini peafowl?

I came to the peafowl section last week..I swear my first question was going to be..do they have bantam, like chickens do


But thought..oh don't go making yourself foolish looking to everyone here

Actually I was thinking the opposite...I wish there were peacock dragons because I would just love to have a giant peacock I could ride and fly around on...I am sure your idea would have a better chance of coming true though.

I guess with selective breeding you could get some smaller ones, but maybe not that small. I personally like their size because you don't have to worry as much about predator problems. Think about it if peafowl were smaller you probably couldn't free-range them as easily without even the small hawks being able to eat them up. Wild India blues in India are taller than the domestic ones which are shorter. I have a short peahen, but as for a small body I haven't really seen much of that. I don't know if many want them smaller, just maybe taller.

I dont see any reason why peafowl could not be slowly breed smaller by selecting the smallest birds for breeding each generation.
