I'm almost trembling with excitement as I type.

I was browsing craigslist, dreaming about the chickens I thought I couldn't get (neighbors and Animal Control, long story. See post in Duck section) when I came across these:

I thought they looked like Seramas!!!

Could it be? If so, I could easily keep one or two in the yard, in a sort of covert chicken operation! I am so excited at the possibility of owning chickens again, after my spirits were dampened.

Do these look like Seramas, and do you think it would be possible to carry out the scheme I have in mind? My yard is big and secluded, and I could keep them veeerrrrryyy sneakily!

Thanks in advance! I really want to get poultry of some kind, and I'll do anything short of moving (I would actually love to move, but I don't think my parents are too keen on it

What about that Serama-ish stance, especially of the black one? Even if they're just mutts, do you think it'd be possible?

They may have japanese bantam or something in them. Japs have similar stance just not as extreme. http://www.pembrookeplantsandpoultry.com.au/images-poultry/JapaneseBantam.jpg That's why they are often crossed with seramas and some say were used to create the original serama breed. Others disagree and try to avoid seramas that are known to have jap blood in them but that's another topic. Japanese bantams are much more common than seramas and often sold at feedstores. Either way those are mutts with a little blood from seramas, japs, or something with a similar stance. They definitely won't be the tiny size of the serama. If they have enough jap or other small bantam blood they could be in the 2lb range which is still pretty darn small. You'd have to ask the size of the parents.

Oh the chocolatey brown one on the right side of most of those pics is a roo. The others look like pullets but would require better pics of them individually especially the combs to tell.

I also vote mixed breed, could be anything. That lil silver one almost looks like a bantam phoenix. There are very few people in MN that have "true seramas" and they definately wouldn't be selling for that amount. one of them is screaming rooster with a hint of ee in there

Well, I contacted the seller and she said that they are Jap crosses, like you all said. On another note, do any of you know if there is a TSC/feed store in the Saint Paul-Minneapolis area that has chicks for sale right now? I did a search, but none of them have it on their website.
