Could they be fertile

Ok i got 2 silkie girls both a year old and both had been tortured by a rooster

ok not funny ....
anyhow how long does the sperm last in their sytems. They are sitting on their 3 eggs so I havnet disturbed them. i know silkies are broody and will sit. But is there a chance they could be fertile?

2-3 weeks. 1 one if you want to be more certain.

they havent laid anymore since those 3 and started to sit on them and it was about 3 days after I brought them home. That would be really exciting!!

I belive rooster sperm can live for up to 10 days in the reproductive tract, so there is a good chance those are fertile eggs. Good luck!

I recently did a test on this and pulled a rooster and monitored fertility on the hens. At 3 weeks I started finding infertile eggs. I'd say up to 3 weeks is a safe bet and worth a try.
