Hi everyone, I hope everyone’s doing great!

I have 5 2month old chicks. 3 silkie 2mix.
I am completely aware that finding out the silkie gender takes more time than your regulars. But… I was thinking, could the way they’re acting towards older chickens possibly be a clue? I tried looking for more info. But haven’t found none.

Now before with my non silkie roosters, I was able to tell quite quickly when they were younger. The whole fighting and stare down they’d do is what gave it away for me. Some girls would also do the small but it wouldn’t last long, just a couple wing flaps and that’s it.

With this set, so far I believe I have 2 Roos, the silkie cross. They’re the only ones out of the bunch that flap at the other chicks, poke at their heads, and do the little stare Down.

Well yesterday I seen one of the silkies chicks fighting with an older silkie chicken (aka the egg layer but another chicken hatched them).
The older chicken is an 11 month old silkie, she’s very tiny, almost the same size as the chicks. And so the chick was flapping and kicking at the older silkie, would try to her down and vice versa. Could it be a sign that the chick my be female, already trying to claim her spot in the pecking order lol. Or a roo just taking out his feelings on the first piece of fluff that cross his path. After the whole 10 second brawl they went back to eating and scratching at my flower bed together.

My thoughts and questions may be silly, forgive me. But I’m just really intrigued and love chickens lol.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear your feedback 😊.

Here’s the fierce cotton ball in the center.

Both are boys

Sorry I didn’t look closely enough, I thought this was one of the chicks!🤣
Yes your little white one is definitely a boy.
I find my male checks will stand up to grown hens, even stare them down.😊
