Sorry to blatantly ask for a quick response, but I'm fixing to go outside and start working on my coop area here in just a few minutes. We purchased our coop off of Craig'slist. The previous owner purchased it new, used it for like two weeks and decided to upgrade to a large chicken tractor. So I doubt there are any germs in this coop that would harm my girls as he only had baby chicks and a turcken in it for a short period. But at the same time, I know I shouldn't take any chances. But what to clean it with? I don't know if regular household cleaners would be toxic to my chickens. Right now, I'm leaning towards cleaning it with vinegar. Any ideas or advice? Thanks ~~

Well, I'm hoping there is something I can use that I already have. I really need to get the chicks outside (and wanted to let them out for a while today) and by Saturday we will have our coop area permantly placed and ready. I don't want to have to wait for an order to come in as I would have to keep them inside until it arrives.

I would use a 50/50 mix of clorox and water. The clorine in the bleach will evaporate and not bother anything after a couple of hours. Or just good ole soap and hot water. good luck with it.
