The inside of blue eggs shells are blue.

The inside of the green egg shells are blue.

The inside of brown egg shells are white. Since the brown color is a coating on the outside of the egg only, it scratches easily. Especially when the coating is darker like the Black Copper Marans lay.

I am fascinated by the different color eggs and why they are the way they are.

:welcome Welcome to BYC! :frow

Currently, there are 53 breeds of standard chicken accepted by the American Poultry Association, and 67 bantam breeds accepted by the American Bantam Association. Not that many at all in contrast to how many exotic breeds exist worldwide, though.

Here's hoping that you find our fantastic community to be overflowing with all the poultry info you could ever be in need of- and maybe you'll make a few lasting acquaintances along the way. :D
