Ok here's the scenario I have 24 copper marans eggs in my incubator 12 blue copper 12 black copper if they all hatch that's way too many for me unless I eat half of them lol. Anyway how much should I sell an adult marans hen for and also a single roo . Then for a pair . I'm new to chicken works y'all bear with me we have flea markets down here which we can sell at I've never inquired about them because I never had them. They are a excellent meat bird and darkest egg layer . That should count for something .

Depends on a LOT of things....

What that breed bird might go for in your area....start looking at craisglist and/or other bird sale venues to see if they are out there and what they go for.

How good of a breed line the birds are....you won't know this until they are 6-9 months old to get a look at their plumage.

How dark they actually lay, many do not lay the darkest...can take 6-8 months until onset of lay.

If they do all hatch, do you have the space to grow them out to laying age to see how dark they lay?
Will you eat/sell the cockerels at 16 weeks, or keep them separate so they don't harass the pullets?

My hatching estimate math goes like this...set 24 eggs, half will hatch, half of those will be males...so you end up with 6 pullets.
Still need to get rid of some?
See above.
Best of cLuck.

I second the "quality" question. Unless they are truly from very good (awarded) show stock, you will have to offer them as "pet quality" chicks.

But here's the thing... you won't know if you are selling pullets or cockerels until they're 4-5 weeks (some even surprise you later). If you sell your chicks right out of the incubator, you may end up selling all your pullets...

Oh I plan to wait until the mature . If I sell any like I plan to go strictly organic meat and eggs .
