Soooo much fun. They progress every day with personality. It’s funny to watch one learn to scratch for food, and now they all know how.
I had my first baby chick at 7 years old, where my grandmother would teach me responsibility and life every summer at her house. The baby chick would bond to heavily to me, it was amazing... following me on tiny legs all over the house. I remember my grandfather getting mad at dinner having to share spaghetti with my chick, and he’d swoosh her away and shake his head. We’d spend all day in the garden with my grandmother watching her pull weeds, and I’d scoop up earth worms for my little hatchling. I’d carry her around under my hair in a scarf. At the end of summer, she would fly home with me on the airplane to California in a little box and eventually become a part of the household of animals. Hand raising them like that makes them find weird places to nest tho... we’d have fresh eggs in the laundry hamper in the garage every morning.
