Country People Unite!!1

Ok we have like 40 chickens,10 Coturnix Quail,11 ducks,dogs,cats,40 goats,11 sheep (need more young ewes, since most are like 10 years old,but we still keep them) 2 horses (Going to be getting 3 more so all of us has our own) 1 Dexter heifer (soon to have more cows) and 5 bunnies, and 2 pet ferrets,2 guinea pigs, and 2 hamsters......lol yes we have alot :P but still so much room! haha!

Also going to be getting a sow pig sometime.

We cut our own hay too,and we do rotational grazing so we always have grass. :)

and if you think we have alot now,we don't.It use to be bigger at our old farm.

Wow, that is a lot! When I'm a grown-up (haha jk) I'm going to have a lot more. (Well, more land=more animals, and 3,000 acres is a lot of land). And there's 3 commercial chicken houses from the 70s on the family's land, so I can have a max of 60,000 chickens!! No way I would have that many though, 200 max, including ones I'll use for breeding. And yes, they'll all have names. :P

haha nah :P not that many! We still have room for more! haha! but we're all good with the number of livestock we have now, just going to get cows :D I missed having cows so does Dad....Mom is more in to the goats as you can tell, haha!

Holy cow! that's alot of chickens! I would look in to getting a LGD if you're going to have that many and all,so you don't lose them to predators.
Good Luck with your chicken farm

Yeah, we have a good LGD but he's getting old...........hopefully we can find a dog as good as him when he's gone. I love my Boom Boom. :love

Yeah cattle are fun. That's mostly what I'll do. I'm going to keep the Red Angus beef, but probably look into a few milk cows.

Oh man, but now I thought of another "plan".............................

I love our Anatolians <3 If we didn't have them,we would have no poultry.....or sheep or goats. We have really bad predator problems here.

More plans? Awesome! Can I hear them? You can PM it :) Just make sure to have ranch hands! Cause then I won't need to hire any to help on my ranch I'll just steal a couple of yours when I need help :) haha

Yeah, we have a pit bull/lab. He's great. He just showed up one day, we cleaned him up and fed him and he's never killed any livestock in his life. The possums, coons, skunks, and even coyotes have not been so lucky though.......

That was when he was younger. I think we had had him for about a year, he had actually gotten up to a healthy weight by then.

Oh yes, I'll have plenty of ranch hands, and a few extra for you to steal. ;)

My plans:

I will have to get a new Bobcat, so that it will be easier to clean out the lower level of the chicken coops,
sickbyc.gif
. I will have to replace the walls up top with hardware cloth, it's only chicken wire now. The slat floor will need fixed up. Then I will need to figure out a sort of tunnel deal, so they can get down and into a huge netted pasture. I wonder if I could even plant some dwarf apple trees in that part of the huge run so that they could eat them come fall. The netting should be pretty high, but they would have to be kept pruned and neat. You know what would be awesome? Some panels that can be brought up to cover the windows at night. Just connected to a few buttons, then they slide up.

You know what else would be fun? Battery hen rescue. If I could find somewhere to take in battery hens that would be going to slaughter, fix them up, feed em right, then let people adopt them. I'd have the space for sure, but would people be willing to take them in once they're back to normal? hmmmmmm.........

Haha, you can operate the Bobcat! Jk, but if you aren't afraid of heights I could definitely use the help.

Soooo, Morgan, what are your plans? You can PM them too. :)
Well....about the heights part....I am afraid, but since I've been helping work on the second story part of the house I have gotten over it.So I don't think they really bug me anymore, has my friend told me once "You'll just shake it off and go ahead"
I can help! haha

Yeah, they're not that high up, but you'd need a big ladder, or even better, a tree trimmer! I'm terrified of heights, but I'll suck it up when I need to. When I don't need to, eh, not so much. Off topic, but have you ever been in a tree trimmer before? It's awesome! We rented one when we were painting my aunts house. My brother dared me to go up as far as it would go (my dad was there though, we were only like 10) so I did. Tree trimmers can go high.............

Nice! I like your plans!
