Hello everyone who reads this! Though I have been raising chickens for a few years this is the first time I noticed some interesting and slightly concerning things. To clarify, I have a very healthy flock with no diseases, mites, infections, or anything else. These seem to be random but maybe possible explanations for.

My rooster who is approaching a year old has slightly reddish legs. This comes and goes but it started happening when it got cold. Maybe his legs are cold. I check all my birds daily for bumble foot and he doesn't have any swelling or any other symptoms associated with that. Sorry the picture is slightly washed out but is is a pink color behind his legs and slightly between his toes. Any thoughts?

I have a 7 month old hen that started laying a month ago. All of a sudden she stopped a week ago. No signs of the egg being eaten or symptoms or signs of being egg bound, she has a very clean vent. I ran out of meal worms and they did not have it for a almost a week. Last few days I have been giving it to them again. Was it the lack of protein she stopped laying?

I have a 6 month old Serama hen who has not started laying (don't know if that is relevant) but this morning she was making a sound that I describe as hiccuping. Her chirps are normal have NO idea what that is? Has anyone else experienced that before? 20220204_085305.jpg

This sounds like a normal hormone flush. Spring is coming...

If you can record her doing this then upload the video to YouTube or another online video hosting website and post the link here, that would be useful.

Unlikely. Is she otherwise behaving normally?

The roos legs is what the above stated natural hormone flush. My roos legs looked like that for 4 weeks

Thanks for the input. I'll try to record the sound but it wouldn't be until later. Yes, my hen is doing well despite not laying for a while.
