Well, im going to try and build a coop similar to the one at http://www.cedarchickencoop.com/page/189, it will be a 5x8 including the run, the hen house will be 3x5. Im thinking about building the nesting box attached to the side so it gives more room inside the coop. i have a couple questions.
1. Going by the 3 sq. ft. per bird i know i can get 5 full size hens. (i will probably only get 4 though) but if i was to choose bantams how many could i get?
2. Will only having one over sized nest box, like a 14" wide by 12" deep and 12" high be enough for 4-5 birds or the full amount of bantams?
This is going to be a tractor so i have to keep it as light as possible. also i was wondering if anyone uses bicycle tires for the coop? and if they do, do they have any problems with them going flat in the winter.
