I am watching chicks grow up in a flock that includes adult birds for the first time. Thanks to the adult influence, a lot of the sparring interactions that allowed me to see chicks' reactions to one another and helped me guess at sex aren't happening. So I've got some kids I've got guesses on and wanted to see what others thought. I'm not good at the feather thing. Hopefully the light is good enough. They are seven weeks old.

Chick C - Nothing tells me this is not a pullet, but its poofiness and crest make me wonder.

Chick S - Probably Australorp, though a couple others that are also supposedly so have leakage that make me think they may not be purebred. This chick is really large, but would not be the largest pullet I've ever had. Originally its size made me think cockerel.

Chick O - Naked neck. I originally thought boy, then girl, now I'm thinking boy again, though behavior-wise, it's neutral.

Chick F - Bantam, no guesses on breed, y'all would be better at that than I. The crest makes me think boy, but again, no behavior to go on.

Chick R - Rhode Island Red. I'm pretty sure boy, but I have another and he's just so big and so aggressive and this one used to be like that, too, and now seems less so.

Chick K - This one is possibly the most stumping for me because of the chick's dark coloration. I first thought girl, then boy, then girl again, but this chick randomly goes through sparring phases and picks a fight with anyone.

I agree C,K,S pullets, the rest boys.

And yes, you have stumbled onto the facts of flock dynamics. The adults do keep the kiddos in check, especially if you used a broody momma to raise them. It can really help the boys not be such jerks....although teenage girls can be pretty big jerks too, so behavior is not the best indicator...comb size and color is.
