ihave been hatching courtnix for a while now I have my northern bob whites laying eggs like crazy I have 2 incubators from tractor supply I use 1 for turner and 1 for incubation every few days I add eggs from 1 to the other and new ones to turner my hatch rate is 0 is it bad to open incubators room temp is about 70 and im quick any help would be great thank you

Eggs that are being incubated need to be turned. Eggs that are on lock down and actively hatching do not need turning. It is at this point that the incubator should not be opened until the hatch is complete.and 1 for incubation. Every few days I add eggs from 1 to the other and new ones to turner. My hatch rate is 0. Is it bad to open incubators.It would be better to put eggs in all at once so there isn't a staggered hatch. It is impossible to keep internal conditions accurate for incubation and hatching with a staggered hatch. Room temp is about 70 and I'm quick. Any help would be great. With a hatch rate of 0 I suspect there is more wrong than the staggered hatch; even staggered hatches usually produce some chicks. I would guess one of the following. 1. incorrect humidity 2. incorrect temperature 3. Turner not working 4. A breeding problem with the quail Thank you. How many batches of eggs have you tried to hatch? Are the quail housed outside in freezing temps?

I have hatched some bobs in the past. I would have to look up the exact temps again. I don't remember if my incubator can do 99.5, so I probably had set at 99 or 100 instead. I read a few places saying humidity should be around 80%, but I can tell you that I did not have the humidity that high at all. Probably between 30 and 40 percent. Then increased a little bit on lock down.

I would save your eggs for a week or two, tilt them once or twice a day in an egg carton ( I never thought to do this in the past) Then incubate the larger batch. Only open to adjust temps / humidity or candle the eggs. (Did you candle the eggs at all? Did you notice any blood vessels? ) Then at day 21 remove or stop turning eggs. Lock down, and wait for hatch. The membranes are much thicker and they shrink wrap very easily. Try not to open the incubator during lockdown.

How many males to females do you have? Do they have a nice large white markings on face or half white half brown? or still light? Possible male is not old enough yet?
