I feed outside also. I put up a little shed roof over the feed and water on a single 4X4 post. It's 4 feet tall. My wife has had an old dome thing she got years ago for keeping those bushy tail rats from eating bird feed. I took that and slipped it over the hanging chain and now have a double cover for the feed. I'll try to get a picture of it when the rain stops.

Here is the actual cover for the 11 lbs Little Giant Feeder. You might want to look at a Feeder with a Rain Hat in the future. They work great for indoors or outdoors. Hope this helps.
