Covering outdoor run

I covered mine with Bird netting

All this is very interesting to me as I am trying to build a run for my chicks and coons and hawks are a concern in my area. I plan on closing pop door at night but I have seen coons sometimes in the day. I had planned on using chicken wire but thanks for the inf. I'll try to find something stronger. Would 2"x4" welded fence work or is the opening to big Thanks for all the input .
