Hello there!
Our nearly seven year old dexter cow just surprised us this morning with a calf! She's our first cow and this is the first time she's calved since we've had her.
The little calf looked very energetic this morning and was suckling and playing around with her older sister. Sometime around lunch time, the calf seemed to be resting, and she and her mother have only been moving around a little. She hasn't seemed to be drinking since this morning, and seems weak and tired (the calf, that is). The mother cow is mooing softly to her every now and again, as if trying to encourage her to get up. Not sure if there could be something wrong?
thanks

You could always try to milk the cow and feed the calf yourself with a five gallon bucket or bottle. It will be messy until the calf learns how to drink those ways. Hopefully momma cow lets you in with her and the calf. If not, seperate them to milk momma, so you know baby is getting enough to drink

I would give the calf a bottle. Did you give the calf a shot of BoSe? A selenium deficiency can cause weakness in calves.
