Dakota felt the slightest bit of shift in Cyril's seat and his hands upon the reins bumped her mouth gently. She slowed to a canter.
Alice and West Wind reached the tree and slowed, turning to Cyril and Dakota. Alice smiled "Good race."

"I thought so," Cyril said, turning Dakota around. He gave West Wind an admiring once-over. "You gonna let me ride her yet?"
"If she will accept you. You know how she is about others trying to ride her." Alice said
West nickered softly

"I must have a knack for picking horses, 'cause anybody can ride mine," Cyril said. He dismounted and led Dakota to a tree, where he wrapped the reins on a branch. "Well, let's see if I'm acceptable in West Wind's eyes."

Alice dismounted and held the reins. "I kind of like knowing she can't be taken by just anyone"
West Wind nickered again

"I guess I'm safe in that respect. If anybody takes Dakota, she'll let herself out and come home," Cyril said. He stood at West Wind's side, rubbing her neck. "I'm not just anyone, though. I'm...me," he laughed at that, took the reins and climbed into the saddle. "Alright, let's see."

Outcast wanted to find Dakota. He looked down at the door closer and began fiddling with it with his teeth. Finally after a few minutes his door swung open. He was quite proud of himself. He ran off in the direction he had come. Ahead he saw Dakota, Cyril, West Wind and Alice. He moved forward slowly.

Alice let go and moved away to watch.

West wind snorted at the different weight on her back. She turned her head to look at Cyril, and pranced sideways.
