Coyote tracks?

I found these tracks in the mud today-







As you can see, they are pretty big, about the size of my palm. (I don't have extremely small or big hands.) I thought they might be dog prints, but they have pretty defined claw marks. (I guess a dog has claws.) What do you think these are? Notice how they are by chicken tracks...

Regardless if it is a Yote, dog, or other, what should I do with my chickens? Keep them in for awhile? The print is about 3 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. I have a plaster cast of it.

I don't know where you are posting from? It looks like a dog to me but it could be a wolf, I doubt it is a coyote but if it is it is a huge on. Also coyote prints are usually more elongated than the ones you posted. The tracks sure look close together in that top photo, like what ever made them was tip toeing when it laid them down.

Yes, at our easter party yesterday everybody agreed it wasn't a coyote. (And my grandpa has had plenty of problems with coyotes and his cattle, he'd know!) But they can't decide if it is a dog or something else.
