I bought this because I seen good reviews on it for chickens but it doesn't throw that much heat out. I wouldn't recommend this at all. I did get the heated roosting pole and they love it. They are fighting each other to get on it. LOL so I'm going to get another one. I don't think my chickens are use to this kind of weather. I just want them to feel comfortable at night. I let them run around the yard through the day and when it starts to get dark, they go in there house one by one. Lol I think it's funny because they are in a line walking toward there house. Lol
