Hey all, I'm in need of someone to take a look at what is going on with my quail rooster's skin because I've never seen anything like this.

I noticed symptoms last Thursday (29th) when this rooster was lethargic (puffed up, eyes closed, didn't move). His poos were really runny and when he started to pass solids, after I started hand-feeding him, those were bright green! Since then he's been in isoation under a heatlamp with apple cider vinegar in water with some hand-feeding for support (Harrison's juvenile formula + probiotics). He's occasionally eating egg feed on his own but mostly he's staying still. He's improved since Thursday though and his poos seem to be mostly back to normal even.

I have no explanation for his condition to begin with I don't know what caused this. However the wildest of his symptoms is the green skin!! It's light green as were his poos, and there's even some scabbing? It doesn't look healthy at all. Please check the attached images, I took them just a moment ago. The bird is alive but his skin is a patchwork of unhealthy colors (the back was pecked bare by another rooster by a while ago and the scabbing appeared only now, I don't believe these two to be connected).

Only thing that was different from his usual environment on Wednesday-Thursday axis was me giving him some romaine lettuce (yes I washed it). But unless it was a food poisoning (other quails eating the same lettuce didn't have symptoms) then I really don't know. Good news is he's on the mend but his skin color is so wild I'm really eager to have answers/educated guesses.

Best regards.

Do you have photos of his eyes and poop too?

The green skin is bruising. He's been severely picked. Separate him from the others and see that he's eating well and drinking.
You can apply triple antibiotic ointment to the wounds.

What do you feed, I'd get him on Gamebird starter if you have some.

I don't believe the the picking and the green skin to be related because the timelines don't match; the skin discoloration appeared *after* I had already isolated him, in addition to it being evenly all over him, not just specific few spots. I showed a photo of his back because that's where it was the most visible. Please see the new photo of his side, it's evenly discolored as well.

He's only had an appetite for egg feed (in this case it's NutriBird's Gold Patee with insects) + hand-feeding formula I give to him.

Attached are the requested photos.

Can he not eat on his own?

I'd provide him with Gamebird starter, treat the wounds. IME, green skin is bruising. Could be it's from something else, but I don't know what it would be.

I'll tag in @Nabiki to see if she has any suggestions/thought for you.

I would think the green skin is bruising as well. Since it's evenly distributed all over him, I suspect that not only has he been picked on, but he's hit sides, roof, walls, trying to get away from his tormentor.

The runny and bright green poops are signs of him not eating, though it might also be from the lettuce. Treats shouldn't be more than 10% of their diet.

How many quail do you have?
How much space do they have?
