Cracked corn

Right now my ducks(6 weeks) are still eating start and grow. We went to the feed store to get more feed and they don't have any purina duck grower or flock raiser, only cracked corn. They said that they couldn't order any either. From what I have read cracked corn is not good to feed ducks. Is there some place that I could buy feed online? This is really frustrating. Now I know why I should have researched more before getting ducks. But I want to do the best for them without paying a fortune in shipping costs. Any help is appreciated.

Do you only have one feed store in your town? we do, but if they are out I will travel about 25 miles 1 way for feed, corn and or scratch isn't good as a sole diet for ducks or chickens it is good to give a small amout in cold weather months because it keeps up with the body heat. Surely they have another brand of feed? you can feed them chicken feed it's just better to supplement their diet when growing fast with niacin or brewers yeast to ward off leg issues. You can order feed online but most will charge shipping and thats what kills ya.Your ducklings need a very good balanced diet right now they grow very fast and need alot of good nutrition. I believe I'd check around your area and see if you can find a better place to buy feed especially if they won't order for you.

I found a feed store about 1 1/2 hours away that sales flock raiser. They told me over the phone to feed the ducks the start and grow until they are about 18 weeks old and then feed the flock raiser. Does that sound about right?

Yeah, that's the only one in my town,,,lol I will be traveling to the town that is 1 1/2 hours away next saturday anyways, so I will stop by that feed store then.

You can use start and grow, thats all I ever used till I visited Purinas website and realized i could feed FR from hatch on. Which is better for me since all my flock are together.

You can feed them chick starter. They can eat layer crumbles. You just need to supplement niacin if you are feeding chicken food.

It can be difficult to find feed made for ducks, so you just have to make do with what you can get. Cracked corn would be a very poor diet for ducks.
