Two of our chickens started laying in the last week, so we are still VERY new to this whole egg-collecting thing. Today we noticed that one of the eggs is slightly cracked on the bottom. It is a very tiny crack, enough to see but not enough to rupture the membrane. I'm wondering if it is safe to use, or if I should just pitch that one to be safe.

Well, since they're new layers one of your girls most probably plopped the egg out in a standing position...might have caught her off-guard!! As to whether it's safe...that's up to you, but with such a minor tiny crack I would think it would be alright.

If just the shell is cracked, but the membrane is intact, I go ahead and use the egg as long as it's fairly fresh, or I can get it in the fridge soon.
