Crackly sound coming from chick's mouth??

I've noticed with almost all my chicks when I'm playing with them or feeding them vitamin-mash with a syringe that I often hear a 'crackle' sound ..?

It difficult to describe the sound -- then I worry maybe they're aspirating or something .... Does anyone know what I'm referring to? But they are all still with me and doing ok (aside from the wee runt who doesn't seem to ever grow).

If you're forcing something into a quail's mouth you are highly likely to be forcing it down the wrong pipe. I would advise to stop doing whatever you're doing immediately.
