Found this chicken coop on Craigslist for $600. Do you think it would be big enough for 5 Chickens?

It says 4 X 6. Here is another picture of the inside.

I wanted my DH to build an 8 x 8 shed for the girls, but they are getting so big so fast !
They are 6 weeks old and the shed isn't even started. So I'm looking in to alternatives just in case .

We must be in the same area cause I found that one too, lol. For 5 chicks, I think it would be enough. I have 4x as much so that's why it wouldn't fit my needs. But good luck and the coop looks great !

Hey Mamachick I'm in Jackson too!!!
Nice to meet you neighbor!

I so wanted something bigger, but maybe we will just get this one for now. We can always build a bigger one later on.
I'm sure we will need to. I think I'm addicted !!

And yes we've been up to our eyeballs in snow this winter, and I think I heard something about snow for the end of the week.
Where is spring ???

.
I've done my research high and low, playhouses, sheds, coops, the whole nine yards for approx. 6 months or so and 4x6 chicken coop for $600 including nest boxes is a great deal. It will be great for start out coop too. On the other hand, bigger is always better in this case because as you stated, it's an addiction

. We already had 7x7 rubbermaid plastic shed for storage but never ended up as planned so we used it as a coop and we already had 10x10 dog kennel and made that 16x10 run. I've made 2 small coops that they also use but now I'm building 8x8 coop and 32x38 closed run. I'll be putting the small coops in there too for extra space. Maybe later if and when your flock grows, you can use this coop for many different reasons. (grown out coop, teenage coop, breeding and such).

Yes, once again we are expecting snow on Thursday

. Not as much but just hearing "snow" brings tears to my eyes,

. I think spring isn't coming this year. I think we'll be getting hot weather right away

. I watch the weather channel few times a day and some how I see myself staring at the screen thinking if I stare long enough maybe the weather will change

lol. I know I finally lost it

.

Hope everything works out for the best for you neighbor, keep us posted.

After seeing that what was out there for chicken coops was insanely expensive, and so small. We have decided to build our own.
Planning a 6' x 8' coop, went to HD yestarday and spent a little over $250.00 for lumber (cheaped out a little, going with the OSB board instead of plywood),
but we figured since we have left over vinyl siding we will use that to side it. And a friend of ours is redoing his windows, so we've got 2 windows coming.
I'll post some pics soon
