I tried the Mama Stamberg one with horseradish and it was YUMMY!
Of course it turns out a shade of hot pink that does not occur in nature but it is soooo tasty you look past that
In your food processor or blender grind together 2 cups fresh cranberries & 1 small onion diced
Scrape into a mixing bowl & stir in 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 Tablespoons sugar and 2 Tablespoons horseradish
Freeze the mixture and thaw 1 hour before serving
No need to used canned cranberry sauce (especially that stuff that slides from the can like dogfood!) - it has to be the easiest thing on the Thanksgiving menu to make from scratch! Sometimes I just use the recipe on the bag of fresh cranberries, but after some experimenting I've been using this orange/cranberry recipe to family raves:
1 bag (12 oz) fresh cranberries
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
3/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Grand Marnier or other orange flavored liquor
In a 3 quart pan, stir together cranberries, orange peel, orange juice, and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer. Stir frequently until the berries have broken open and released their jiuces. Add liquor and cook 2 minutes longer.
