I have my first baby bunny. Not first rabbit, just first kit.
He/she is about 9 days old and already has ears and eyes open. This was a single kit from a doe who has kindled three times now but first time with me. Just opened eyes today really and keeps them closed alot still.
This kit has been handled and snuggled alot. I plan to keep him/her as a 4-H bunny for my youngest child who is just turning 4 soon.
Anyway, starting yesterday it started jumping out of it's skin now and then for seemingly no reason. At times acts in full out attack mode, teeth bared, lunging, etc.
I am assuming this is normal bunny development akin to baby mice going through the "popcorn" stage?
Am I right? My snuggly little bunny now has turned Jekyl and Hyde, on minute burrowing into my hair for snuggles and the next jumping into mid air snapping at anything around it... Will this pass?
Rabbitmage?

I've never had this with any of my babies, but I had the mom turn into a crazy bunny after she had her first babies and she's never changed back. The teeth baring part scares me; like he's in pain or something.

YAY WE GET TO SEE PIX!

As long as he's acting okay in every other respect, I wouldn't worry too much. A lot of my babies get really squirmy at that age, especially when they're hungry (if he's making noise and coming at you with his mouth, he's looking for milk!). Is mom feeding him enough?
