Hello, I'm Crissy.
I'm relatively new to chickens. I got my first 8 chickens in May.
I currently have 3 pullets, 2 roosters and 30+ babies in two brooders.
One of my older chicks has a little red bump on his neck, that resembles a skin tag.
There is also a black, oval bump that's raised, and feels like a scab or mole maybe.
Is this something I should be concerned about?

Personally, I would cut the skin tag off and put a slit in the black thing to see what comes out. Make sure you wear cloves. OR, take the chicken to the vet. I wouldn't let it go. Also, I agree with getting rid of a rooster. To many roosters is just problems.

I wouldn't touch either growth unless a vet or ?? told me to. Some growths can be made much worse by tampering with the unknown. At least post photos at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread first for advice.

Don't know what it could be. How long has it been there? Maybe a feather stuck under the skin?
I just noticed it, so I took him out to get a closer look. I read another thread, someone posted a similar thing. Some advice said it was an oil gland. Haven't read anything about the black spot. I looked at the other chicks, I don't see others with it.
