Crazy prices for Timothy hay and Alfalfa!

I just have to rant and rave about the increase in hay prices. When I began my Rabbitry in 2020 a 50# bag of Timothy hay was $17 at TSC. Now it’s $27.

I know inflation is everywhere, but what specifically is driving this one? Can a farmer please tell me so I can feel better about paying the new price?

Can you buy it by the bale somewhere instead of the bags? Might be cheaper. Or online maybe?

I didn’t even know you could buy hay in a store, now I know. Try Craigslist or Facebook maybe?

Some Tractor Supply stores sell bales too.

Around here it’s $7-$9 for a bale. Used to be $5-$7 but yeah. Far cheaper.

It's almost time for me to go buy another bale myself.
My store's website says they have these but they don't.
They usually only have 2 types in stock.
