CRAZY QUESTION. Anyone know if Barred Rock day olds look the same as..

Delawares? I'm so confused. I looked online and don't get it. Is there a difference between Plymouth barred rocks and Barred rocks? I ordered Plymouth barred rocks but all my chicks are yellow? Online it shows the plymouth barred rocks to be grayish. one of the last eggs to hatch was from the barred rock girl and well it's yellow so I'm so confused it isn't even funny. Are all chicks born yellow? Yes i am serious as can be, I know it is a stupid question.

I dont know what you ended up with but it sounds suspiciously like it isnt barred rocks.

Plymouth Rock is a breed, barred is the color, like a black lab dog or chocolate lab, both are labradors, just different colors. Barred chickens are black with a dot on their head as chicks, and as they get their feathers they start their barring.....Barred chicks should not be yellow...

If your chicks are yellow you didnt get barred rocks. They are black and white even as chicks just dont have the barring yet.

Hi Shana! Barred Rocks should hatch with black down and a yellow head-spot.
Are these eggs from your birds or someone elses? (as in do you know who the parents are or trusting that someone sent you Barred Plymouth Rock eggs?).

Yea, they should be black with a white dot on there heads.

See the two black chicks with the dots heads in the right upper corner? Those are barred rock chicks. If yours are yellow they are most certainly not barred rocks.

Hi Shana! You had Delawares and Barred Rocks.
I started with 24 eggs and I'm down to 11....
If you lost all the BR's, then it must be a Del', and they hatch yellow.

Ok the supposed BR lady wrote on her eggs, the Delaware lady didn't. I have hatched out some of both because I recognize the G the BR lady wrote on her eggs and the last egg to hatch out was the what I thought rotton egg.... and it was one of the BR because it had a G on it. So this is why I am so confused. I have no idea what kind of chickens I have. I think I can tell the Delawares from the others, they are smaller and almost a white/yellow. Whereas the others are bigger and have a yellow/yellow with a hing of brown shading on the neck. Make sense? They are cute as a button, I love them regardless, but really curious to what she sent me and oh welll lol

BiddyL maybe she had an egg mixup there are more kinds of rocks than barred. Maybe you can find the chart with chick ID. Or you should at least contact the seller to tell her she may have a mixup. Maybe she knows what they could be besides barred. Hopefully you weren't ripped off that would suck. Everybody gets the benefit of the doubt once. Hope you are able to unravel the mystery. Luck to ya!
