Ok, so it's been quite a week for me! With a bunch of sick baby turkeys, the last thing I needed was for my young bantam roo to get very sick. I found him yesterday morning, alone, and half dead. I immediately brought him inside and got him as warm as possible. He was so ill he couldn't even open his eyes. I had him in a cage in my house for warmth, but he kept falling over. Eventually, I put him in a box next to my chick brooder. I kept thinking he was dead, but every time I checked he was still alive.
I left him next to the brooder to keep him warm. I had to leave for several hours, and I got the surprise of my life when I came back.
THE LITTLE STINKER HAD JUMPED OUT OF THE BOX AND WAS WALKING AROUND MY HOUSE!
He was fine! I could've sworn he was almost dead, but not anymore! I was so shocked I couldn't move.
Later, I wondered what had gotten him so sick. I spoke with a few chicken experts and they agreed that he must have been intoxicated with something.
I'm so glad I didn't loose the little guy, he and I have been through a lot. I could probably write a whole book about his adventures!
Anyway, that's my crazy roo story!
Sorry I don't have pics to go along with it.
