My husband, son & I had recently gone to our local sale barn poultry sale to see about getting some hens since a bobcat just about decimated my flock

. (Good news is I got the bobcat 100ft from my back door & is no longer a problem!) I had looked carefully over every hen I was interested in to make sure they were healthy, written down their numbers & told my hubby to ONLY bid on those while I kept our 4yr old busy. Well he didn't & bought 2 hens w/ CRD! They are no where near my other birds & I'm giving them meds to get them feeling better but is there a vaccine I can give my other birds so that they do not contract CRD?

Good luck with your chicken raising adventures, and I hope you find everything you need to know! Glad to have you with us. Don't forget to take a look at BYC's very useful learning center (If you haven't already)! The learning center as well as the forum should answer your questions!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you a good link to check up on. You might also post in the Emergencies forum about them and what your options are, but if the new birds have MG/CRD I would consider culling them since birds remain carriers for life and no vaccine is 100%.

Welcome to BYC!

I am so sorry about your new birds. However you can vaccinate your present flock for CRD/MG. Take a look at this page and do some reading here....

Good luck with your flock and I hope you can keep this thing under control.

Thank you so much for the link

. We ended up giving the hens to a friend of ours that already has some hens w/ CRD so he didn't mind taking them for us.
