Cream Legbar Chick with Icky Eye

Hey everyone, I recently got a shipment of Cream Legbar Chicks and I noticed that one of the males has something going on with one of his eyes. It started out looking like a wierd abnormality in the upper eyelid that made it look like the chick's eye was partially closed. Now that eye has some wierd goo or mucous around it. Anyone know what this is and what if any treatment is?

It may have gotten pecked in the eye. I would clean the eye with a clean wet washcloth or cotton ball, and apply some antibiotic ointment, such as Terramycin from your feed store. Ask a clerk for it. Vetericyn eye gel or eyewash is also good. If you cannot get those, get some saline eyewash from your Walmart or pharmacy. Clean the eye and apply a dab of the eye ointment at least twice a day.
