Hi guys,

So we had 7 cream leg bar chicks hatch over the weekend. From what I read, they are an auto-sexing breed and we should be able to determine their sex immediately. However, I’m not sure we’ve got cream legbars here. Of the seven chicks, there’s maybe only one that I think could actually be a cream legbar. I suspect he is also male (separate pic). Anyone have any ideas?

If your positive the eggs were blue, they’re likely a mix. The possible legbar would be male if he’s pure.
Also, welcome to BYC! We’re so glad you joined us here!
I suspected that may be the case. It’ll be interesting to see what they look like once grown but it does make sexing them a bit more difficult than initially anticipated 😂

Beautiful chicks! Do you know what other breeds the breeder had? The one that looks pure cream legbar in your hand is a boy as he has the spot on his head. If they all came from blue eggs than likely all half cream leg bar anyway. It will be fun to see photos as they get older. Most cream leg bar crosses develop a bit of a crest. Good chance the females will lay green eggs depending on what their other half is! :)
