Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

There was a discussion of prepotency recently on . . . a thread. Heritage breeds thread, maybe? Fred's Hens started that discussion.
normanack! - any idea of where, how long ago or what it was near?

Heritage breeds had this:THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF BREEDING TO TYPE - ITS APPLICATION TO THE BREEDING OF DOGS, FARM ANIMALS, CAGE BIRDS AND OTHER SMALL PETS. By C.J. Davies =
He speaks in general about type not just specifically chickens, infact, I think in the subtitle he talks about dog breeds...and I'm only 1/2 way through the book.....

I downloaded the kindle edition on my tablet and Davies mentions that the female can also have prepotency. How cool is that? I need to learn much more about that subject.

Out of clarification, I am not saying that she IS a librarian, just that she is better read on poultry publications that anyone I know and always posting obscure references that answer every question that comes up perfectly.

I have given her several ovations too. My favorite were her reference to a publication from the Kansas Agricultural Research Station on culling for egg production by head points, and of course when she shared that she saw a Kitchen Nightmares episode where Gordon Ramsey had a restaurant in the UK set up their own flock of Cream Legbars to supply their chef with premiere eggs to cook with.

Super pictures, thanks for posting them.  I love them.....  I really like Merlin too.

My pullet's stock went up today too--she just laid an egg after coming out of molt so she quit right at the end of August and got back on the job today....
Thanks! Yay! Eggs are so fun. First eggs are even more fun :)

OK ordering my OAC ..when do we start? Do I get to play too? I just want to follow along. Is this Club based or will the OAC and chicken parts and colors discussion happen here? Am I missing it?

Heritage Large Fowl thread, beginning on page 1616, post 16160 by Fred's Hens. You have to skip some unreated posts before there are responses to his question, and his continued discussion. I myself asked a very erudite question on the topic.
