Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

It seems that people that bought the early imports need to make cream out of crele. The fact that they didn't import cream in the first place really is no excuse to make crele into creams. Just make two different color varieties.

Ralphie,I imagine your wife is not jumping for joy--heck, I am not even happy with myself for hatching this late.

I actually got mine looking cream or enough to get some decent showbirds. BUT it was a battle, like I said the hens are not quite there, but I am happy with the young boys. I had a decent pullet last year but her comb got winter trimmed so I can show her this year, it has no points at all.

The one rooster that Donna got from you looks cream. I hatched a few eggs for her and 2 out of 9 were white. They came from the light colored rooster.

Nope, the rooster with white gene is real gold. He is an uncle to the good cream ones dad.
Unless they were marked with a w, then both parents were whites.

I wish try to get a picture of the cockerel In the lead to go to the shows tomorrow

I haven't seen him in person--just pictures she has emailed.

It sounds like my eggs, I told everyone I sold them too there was about a 15% chance of whites. Based on the hens I had with that rooster. I think I am done using that rooster this next year..

I don't mean to be "rude" but I am not sure I remember Donna. I sold close to 1,000 chicks this year, the majority were legbar, and I shipped 65 dozen eggs this past season..

I hatch a lot of birds and have lots of customers, I collected 6-7 dozen white's eggs and 12-15 dozen colored birds eggs a week,,, I would hatch about half and sell half as eggs.... Donna is a common name. Sorry...

She met you in Wadena and picked up pullets for both of us in May at Amish sale

Ok that Donna!!! Did she take eggs, I thought it was just birds... or she hatched eggs from her birds??

I have no idea if those had the white gene or not..
I am going back to Amish Auction on August 19th. I am going to bring some more birds.

No eggs from you---we each bought 6 hens and 2 roosters. Hers started laying like crazy and she brought me eggs to hatch for her.
