Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

LOL - yes, we got the word from the UK standard as something that the cockerel is NOT supposed to be. :O)
Trouble is we ddin't know exactly what it was.

The link below is to a 1944 publication titled Mating and Breed of Poultry. On page 20 and 21 is describes cockerels with low vigor that should be avoided as breeders. I thought it was intresting what it says about long legged cockerels (SEE LINK).

So it seems like natural selection helps to take care of the stilty situation. Interesting. Has anyone noticed a problem with high stepping boys over 1 year? And any infertility issues with the same age group?

Thank-you, Rinda, a thousand times. You and others have done a large amount of work on this!

Deb,

Short answer: no.

Long answer: The British Poultry Standards, 6th edition is what we are using as the base, which is very similar to the standard submitted in 1958 and listed on the autosexing poultry club. http://autosexing-poultry.co.uk/wordpress/

ChicKat, Lonnyandrinda, GaryDean26, and others including me have been putting together the nuts and bolts of a cream legbar club. We temporarily set aside the draft to pull this together over the last 2 months. I'd love to bring a draft to vote this year by the club. I'm thinking that there is a series of need to do (and what others want to do) business and fun that will happen first.

I'll PM you.

Heather

Any cream legbar owners headed to the Pacific Poultry Breeders Association Show this weekend? If so, what are you showing?
Just wanting to know what everyone's second favorite breeds are! Ha, ha, ha!

I am planning on going next year.... If all goes as planned, we'll take legbars, sumatras, phoenix bantams, and faverolles. This year, the big show we're planning is the Ohio national
