Now that you say it, it IS a huge comb. It almost looks rooster-ish. Same with the color...they look a bit faded. HmmmExcellent link, thanks! Huge comb on the Gold Legbar hen. Not really as gold colored as I had expected, either. Curious.

Thinking back over the past year, I have seen down from nearly black, to white (for the white version of Cream Legbars) -- From what I hear the ideal version is very light and silvery---but y'know... We have to really start tracking that. The male chick in the English article has very dark down
I hope to start finally hatching some legbars here in the next few weeks. Between my 2 pairs of legbars, I am getting about an egg a day (they each lay every other day) so I hope to get some eggs saved up to start adding to the flocks
Wondering if BYC members are more likely to hatch pullet eggs, or wait for eggs after the hen's first year?
Has anyone noticed if their chicks are more vigorous, possibly even larger at hatching/maturity if they come from a hen instead of a pullet?
Any thoughts on whether the age of the cockerel/rooster matters?
Gorgeous lawatt!,
