Hey guys, I have a 26 (More or less) week old Australorp hen that has been doing some funny droppings.
For some reason it comes out all liquidy and white and she gets it all over her rear feathers.

She has just started laying and I have noticed that her eggs have that stuff all over it aswell (exept it’s dry).

I was wondering if she has a disease or worms maybe? She has been doing it for at least a month now. I don’t give her lots of liquid-type food, But I don’t think it has anything to do with food because all my other chickens don’t have the same problem. Anyways thanks for your replys :).

That's probably because the loose stools are on her butt feathers...
....or she may be pooping a bit when she lays.

This is what I do when I have a bird I suspect has an issue:
I'd isolate bird in a wire cage within the coop for a day or two....so you can closely monitor her intake of food and water, crop function(checking at night and in morning before providing more feed), and her poops. Feel her abdomen for squishy or hard
swelling.

Best to put crate right in coop or run so bird is still 'with' the flock.
I like to use a fold-able wire dog crate (24"L x 18"W x 21"H) with smaller mesh(1x2) on bottom of crate under tray.
Then you can put tray underneath crate to better observe droppings without it being stepped in. If smaller mesh is carefully installed, tray can still be used inside crate.

Il try that if i can get my hands on a dog crate, she dosen't have any obvious signs of a disease or anything because she still acts normal, shes eating, drinking, Running, Foraging and etc. I also forgot to add that it started happening after i gave her a bunch of rock melon (cantaloupe) and some rock melon smoothies. Im not sure if thats just a coincidence or theres a relation.

That would be some liquidy food, what goes in.....

How long ago did she get the melon, did the other birds get some too, with the same results?
What else was in the 'smoothies'?

Tis why I don't feed melon 'meat', plus that part is for me(haha!), just the rinds with a bit of meat on them. Most fruit in much quantity will give them watery poops.

Oh, I feed that melon like a month or two ago. All the chickens got some and knowing her she probably got the least lol.
