Creating a bantam from a standard?

I was just wondering, since I know that the bantam version of so many breeds came originally from the standard size of that breed, would it be possible to breed a standard size chicken smaller and smaller until you then have a bantam?

I'm sure it would take quite a few generations and a lot of careful breeding and culling, but I'm thinking it could work if done right.

Any thoughts?

yup it will work...you just keep finding smaller versions of the big birds and breeding those...sometimes it helps to breed in a type that is close to the one you want to minatureize that is already a bantam...it takes awhile and depends on how lucky you are at finding small versions for breeding

Just hatch them late every year they will keep getting smaller
