Creating a Blue Laced Red Cochin......

I have no idea where to get any real good quality GL. I have a pair of GL but in no way are they good quality.

So I recently received four GL cochins, they are the Giant variety. I am thinking though they may all be roos, but none of them are crowing yet. They are a little over 5 months old now, but I am going to a poultry show/auction this weekend and will try and figure that out. Plus, I will be looking for some Blue and/or Splash Giant Cochin hens. See if I can work on this project. Is anybody else still working on it? If I do definitely figure out that they are all roos, I will probably also see about getting a GL hen. But another project I want to work on are the MF Standard Cochins or Calico Standard Cochins.

Everything I'm reading in my genetics books says that Golden-Laced should already carry the Mahogany (Mh) gene, which will intensify the red present. Then, if you select for the reddest phenotype, shouldn't that (hopefully) eliminate the need to cross in a (solid) Red Cochin?

I was really going to try and keep this under wraps for a while, but I'm just too excited! And I'd love to have some BYC friends tag along for the ride! I think I'm going to need all the BYC advice and encouragement I can get for this little adventure!

You know I really hate when you enabling people do this to me. I want to get a project started and now I see this!
What the heck is wrong with you people???
All I wanted when I started this was a couple of hens. Then I get all wrapped up in some breeds and suddenly need to move and give them all up.
This time was going to be JUST Some Marans, Sumatras(don't have yet) Cubalayas (don't have yet) replace Polish (need more) replace Wellies(in the bator) Maybe and EE or 2. I have Games, BLPolish,EEs,more EEs in the brooders along with FBCMs, WM, Blue Ameraucana. Don't even have my original list filled and I see stuff like this. Been looking for a couple of silkies and some cochins lately
I have another completely different list than when I started up again. Have some of the originals, and 2 tha I was just iffy about.

STOP TEMPTING ME!!!!

OK I gotta check the auctions now.

I'll be watching all of you to see what horrible things your up to next!
