"Creating" sex links...can you use a buff roo on BR hens?

Everything I've read says to use a red roo on barred rock hens for black sex link pullets.
Anyone know if you can use a buff orp roo and still sex at hatch by the 'white spot on male's heads'?

YES you can. All of the chicks will inherit the dominant genes for black color from the mother. Only the males will inherit the sex linked barring gene from the mother therefore they will have a spot on their head.
