Can anyone volunteer to explain how you went about creating your own windows in your coop - as opposed to installing actual windows? I'm referring to when you cut out a panel opening and then use that piece to create the window...

i put fixed (non opening) windows in my coop i framed a 12x 12 opening then made some 1x1 strips nailed them about 1 and an eighth inches from the outside
cut some 12x 12 plexi drilled holes through the plexi then screwed then to the 1x1s so they were flush with the exterior when framed some 1x2 trim around the outside hiding the screws

What I did for the vent/window doors shown here

Was using a skill and saber saw cut out the rectangle for the window. Hardware clothed the inside, then remounted the rectangle with hinges and a barrel bolt. If I wanted a closed window, I'd frame in some plexiglass from the back side like the previous poster.
