I recently got a pair of 6 (now 7) week old Muscovies, and a pair of Call ducks. Tonight I decided to go ahead and let them start free ranging with my chickens and my Crested pair. My Crested drake, who I haven't seen breeding the female in a few weeks now, decided to try to breed with them all, including the boys. I knew there was a possibility of him being a problem with my Call duck hen since he's so much bigger than her, but the other drakes?? Of course I caught him as soon as I could and put him in a cage. I plan on selling him even though I really don't want to, but is there anything else that I could possibly do, besides penning him up for the rest of his life?

He never tired messing with the chickens, but I just sold him to a nice older couple. I hated doing it, and I bought him 6 months ago today as a duckling. It had to happen though. He was going to end up killing my other ducks.

Did his mate go with him or do they have ducks? poor thing will be awfully lonely. Sounds like he was try to show who was dominant in the group since all the new one were let out with him.

They have several ducks. I started to send his mate with him, but they only had a tiny cage to take Prince home in so there wouldn't have been enough room for Bubbles. They sent me a picture of him with his new friends and he seemed very happy. It broke my heart to get rid of him.

I'm glad to hear they have other ducks, drakes can be a pain but they are just acting like drakes. gotta love them .You can at least know he is in good company.
