They are not related to mallards. It is mallard based trait

So this isn't something hatchery have created? Like what breeders have done to other animals? It's something that has happened in the wild Mallard pop never seen a wild Mallard with a crest.

They have holes in their skulls sometimes they will have neurological problems but usually they're fine you can never hatch two eggs from parents that are both crested eggs or the chick will die.

It's basically a mutation that breeders have turned to a breed
