Cresteds

Wish I had know about Cresteds before we got them.

We lost a Buff drake and found a mated pair of Crested Rouens close by. The owner wouldn't separate them, said ducks mate for life. Since I'm new to all this, I believed her and took the pair even though all I wanted was a drake. I bought a Magpie drake a little while later because the Rouens were beating up on the Buff hen. Do I need to sell the Crested Rouen to avoid the whole fatal gene mess? My son has been thru so much in the last year, I don't think he (or I) can handle dead or deformed ducklings. I was told the Rouens were laying when I bought them, although they haven't laid since they've been here. I figured they just needed time to settle in. UGH!!!
