I built a quick trap when my son was younger and had a lizard to feed. Near the fenceline hedgerow I dug a hole and buried a plastic milk jug that had the top cut off even with the ground level. The milk jug was cut so that the sides tapered inward, we placed a board over it spaced about an inch high or so. Every morning the trap had lots of bugs in it. One morning it had a tiger salamander in it, they are somewhat rare and possibly endangered so we let it go. The last one I saw was 20 years earlier.
