I didn't believe in the paranormal until we lived in a haunted house and it took me a long time to accept that we had a spirit of some sort.

Hi Gonzo!

Well, if someone wanted to come visit at my parents place sometime when they were on vacation for a little ghost hunting, I would be up for that. I have thought on and off about having the place investigated and have their blessing to do so, just when they are gone.
Actually when that thumping happened, we HAD been talking about my deceased sister previously. So who knows?
LOL, redhen, to climb up to those windows, he would have had to have had mountain climbing equipment or those thingies loggers wear on their feet.

About 20 some years ago, My ex-husband and I lived with his mom after we were married and saving for our first home.... We could hear crying coming from the top of the wall near the ceiling... My step father in laws first wife died from cancer in that house, and the room we were in was the old nursery...That and other weird things happened their.... Like our car keys would be lost, then appear right there on the table, in plain sight! I've also heard loud booms in that house. It's not somewhere where I would stay alone...

DH doesn't believe in ghosts. Having lived in a haunted house, I do believe. He mocked me for it one day and said there was no way to prove ghosts exist. I asked if he believed in God and when he agreed I asked him to prove God exists. He doesn't mock me any more, but he still clearly didn't believe in ghosts.

He believes a spirit can send me a message but doesn't believe in ghosts?

When my parents first moved in to the place where I grew up (they have been there around 40 or so years now), my dad would hear growling coming from under the front porch. But there was never anything when he checked, even when he closed up one end of it.
This area under the porch was set up so that you could look clearly from one end to the other, no hiding places etc.
He still talks about it.
I think this was one of the reasons my mom was adamant about not wanting us playing under there. Though she never would have said so.
When my dad mentions it now my mom gets all flustered. It makes me wonder if she had an experience as well.

My neighbor's ex husband and father of her oldest son rented a house from a person who attends her church. Her ex started to report that the house was haunted. So he asked the family if the house was haunted. The wife said, "No, I am a Christian and do not believe in ghosts so therefore it isn't haunted." Her husband immediately said,"Yes, the house is haunted." Then his wife admitted that the house made weird noises while they lived there.

I always thought that was interesting, that the husband and wife labeled the events differently but both of them are very religious.

That is interesting. My mom is very religious so tends to look at some of these things differently, mostly by insisting it "didnt happen".

Even when something has been seen/experienced as a group. Though as I have previously said, after my sister died and more things have happened in the house, she has a less strict take on it.
A couple weekends ago when I was at the house, I heard something moving around in the closet. This closet is in one of the big bedrooms upstairs but the space runs right behind where I sleep. They dont have mice or rats, but I was thinking possibly a bat. My parents recently were working on an area of the attic closet to make it so bats couldnt get in to the lower part. However, it might be too early? Its only recently started really warming up.
When we were little, I remember we always dared each other to go into my parents bedroom because many times the door to the attic closet would jiggle and turn, even when there was no wind. Or there would be thumps on the walls (not as loud as we heard Saturday night though. Those were LOUD!)
My mother also has a phobia of looking out the windows at night. Sometimes I wonder why it has made her so jumpy. What does she expect to see?

One thing that annoys me about any movie on ghosts is that it makes it seem like the paranormal experience happen every day. When we lived in our haunted house, there would be long spaces of inactivity and then the spirit would start up again. It wasn't constant.

I have to say with the family house, it was ALMOST constant but did have short periods of inactivity as well.

What I really hate about the paranormal and hollywood, is how only deserving people "get it" Like sexually active, or beer drinkin teens! Thats why I love Japanese horror... Lots of Ghost stories, and its all fair game!
